On Monday 16 April, Mohammed Shaban, 2011-2012 Sauvé Scholar from Gaza, addressed a broad audience on the power of education to transform his society.

As a schoolteacher mandated by his home Ministry of Education to design and develop a Peace Curriculum for the Palestinian Territories, Mohammed spent his year as a Sauvé Scholar researching how education can be used to foster a culture of peace in his home. He shared his story and discussed his findings with all those who accepted this special invitation.

The Sauvé Scholars Foundation was pleased to offer this event in partnership with the Montreal Dialogue Group, an organization brought together by a common concern over Palestine and Israel as well as by a commitment to embarking in a dialogue. The Dialogue Group brings together Canadians of all origins concerned with Palestinian-Israeli reconciliation, offering events that foster open and honest communication.
