Anita Nowak has been named winner of the Quebec Notable Award in the Education Category of the inaugural Quebec Notable Awards, which recognizes the most notable young professionals across the province of Quebec.
The Jeanne Sauvé Foundation is delighted that Anita has been recognized for the very qualities that have made her such a special part of the Sauvé family and we extend our warmest congratulations to her.
Selection is based on three key factors that “aim to recognize the 360-degree young professional lifestyle, including: professional dedication, community dedication, and the number of votes.”
As the founding Integrating Director for the Social Economy Initiative (SEI) at McGill University’s Desautels Faculty of Management, Anita is responsible for integrating social entrepreneurship and social innovation into the Faculty’s teaching, research and outreach. She adds, “As a faculty lecturer, I also have the privilege of teaching Introduction to Social Entrepreneurship and Social Innovation to phenomenal undergraduate students.
As a Senior Fellow with the [Jeanne] Sauvé Foundation, I am currently writing a book with the working title Empathic Action: A Force for Good whose Time has Come.
When asked What is the best part of what you do on a day-to-day basis?, she responds:
The best part – by a wide margin – is my interface with students and Sauvé Fellows. Back in 1997, when I was a BComm student, I had a major light bulb moment that changed the trajectory of my life. So, I thrive on providing space for other light-bulb moments to happen. Bringing inspiring speakers onto campus, showing thought-provoking films in my class or meeting students in my office who want to advice about their career choices (or life!) are all ways in which I feel I am making a contribution.
Anita’s contribution to the Foundation extends far beyond her empathetic interaction with directors, management, staff, Sauvé Scholars and Alumni. She consults with Program participants on their individual projects and, as a certified Professional and Personal Coach, advises program staff on the creation of the Personal Coaching program pilot.
