The Jeanne Sauvé Foundation hosted an intimate and lively evening at Maison Jeanne Sauvé with economist Jim Stanford on 19 November, 2013.

Over light refreshments, Dr. Stanford shared his personal leadership journey and took on a wide range of questions from participants. Our conversation touched on questions such as:

  •  Are unions good for the economy?
  •  Does globalization inevitably mean job loss and inequality?
  • What is austerity, and can it “save” the economy?

Jim Stanford is one of Canada’s best known economists. He works as an economic researcher at Unifor, the country’s largest private sector union with over 300,000 members. He is also the founder of The Progressive Economics Forum.

Jim Stanford holds a Master’s degree in Economics from Cambridge University and a Ph.D. from the New School for Social Research. He is author of a column for the Canadian newspaper The Globe and Mail as well as the book ‘Economics for Everyone.

This intimate evening was a success, and the Foundation intends to replicate this discussion format for future events.
