Congratulations to 2010-2011 Sauvé Fellow Kyle Hill on being awarded the Meritorious Service Medal by the Governor General of Canada!
Kyle was awarded this honor along with the other two Teach For Canada founders Adam Goldenberg and Mark Podlasly. The idea for Teach For Canada emerged from the three Fellow’s Action Canada task force project in 2011. Teach For Canada is a non-profit organization that works with northern First Nations to recruit, prepare, and support committed teachers.
The founders explained: “This award recognizes the accomplishments of the First Nations community members, teachers, students, board members, donors, volunteers, and the Teach For Canada staff who continue to work hard to increase the number of committed educators teaching First Nations students in the North. We particularly thank the 18 First Nations and the 108 teachers who have worked with us over the past three years.
Together, we can make education more equal.”
